Long Division

Year 9 students might find this video from YouTube useful. It covers the basics of long division, without using a calculator.

Note: Although many long divisions can be performed without working out the remainder by subtraction on paper it is worth learning this technique as it can be applied to all long division problems no matter how big the numbers or how many digits after the decimal point.

How to do Long Division

Here is a video from YouTube that explains the process of long division. No calculators, just pen and paper.

Year 9 Numeracy cont.

In addition to multiplication we are also learning to perform division without a calculator (shock, horror!). You should be confident in dividing by any two digit integer. Again you can find lots of practice exercises at Teaching Image.
